Objectives
Objectives for AIM 1: To offer a supportive, non-judgmental and appropriately confidential service to individuals and families experiencing drug-related problems
- To offer counselling/one-to-one support to individuals and family members
- To provide relevant information
- To provide practical support, as appropriate
- To provide outreach services to clients at home, in prison, in hospital, in shelters, etc, as appropriate
- To facilitate support groups / development groups for individual drug users and family members
- To advocate on behalf of clients , as appropriate
- To mediate on behalf of clients with relevant staff of other agencies
- To refer clients to other agencies / services, as appropriate
Objectives for AIM 2: To increase drugs awareness throughout the local community
- To establish and maintain links with local community groups, residents groups, women’s groups, youth groups, etc
- To develop links with local schools and youth projects and provide prevention-education workshops
- To offer drug-related training to the community as a way of increasing knowledge and encouraging debate
- To provide relevant educational materials to the local community, as required
Objectives for AIM 3: To work towards providing a community-driven response to drug issues
- To provide outreach, information and support at a more local level, e.g., in O’Devaney Gardens and Montpelier, North Circular Road, Blackhall, etc
- To encourage local people to become involved in all aspects of the work of the project
- To maintain links with local people and community groups
- To contribute to the development of the Drugs Working Group of the local Area Network, NWICAN
- To facilitate the identification of needs through discussion groups, open days, research, etc.
- To acknowledge and promote a broad view of community and, accordingly, to develop / offer a range of services for particular groups e.g., drug users working in prostitution
Objectives for AIM 4: To contribute to the development of community and statutory services for drug users
- To influence government, Drugs Task Force, H.S.E policy through involvement in relevant working groups
- To develop and maintain links and co-operation with the local H.S.E.N.A satellite clinic, “The Mews”, and other relevant drugs services
- To enable / empower drug-using clients to have a voice in the development of services
- To advocate on behalf of clients with community and statutory services
Objectives for AIM 5: To work towards improving the quality of the work of the project
- To develop a team approach through weekly staff meetings
- To offer regular supervision to all staff members
- To ensure all staff members engage in ongoing training
- To evaluate the project on a bi-annually basis
- To develop a 3-year strategic plan for the project to be reviewed annually
- To invite feedback from clients, referral agencies, local community
- To develop, be guided by, and follow policies that will ensure that all work carried out on behalf of Chrysalis is in line with high ethical standards
Women Working in Prostitution Project
Aims
Objectives
Objectives for Aim 1: Offer support to women working in Prostitution with presenting needs
- Being available during regular outreach shifts.
- Develop an informal drop in.
- Provide one-to-one support.
- Court/hospital accompaniment.
- Prison visits.
- Assist with housing, drug, and education needs if requested through referral.
Objectives for Aim 2: Health & sexual health promotion
- Distribute condoms/lubricant.
- Distribute information on safer sex/STI's.
- Encourage women to get health screening and accompany women if they wish.
- To look at ways to develop a medical service for women in the Benburb St area.
- Recruit and train a peer worker with health promotion as a major component of her role.
- To organise training for women working in prostitution around STI prevention and general health issues.
Objectives for Aim 3: Advocate for & with women both locally and nationally
- Advocate for women individually re: her presenting needs, e.g. housing, drug treatment, education needs.
- Liase between local residents and women regarding issues arising.
- Develop the relationship with the local Garda and provide training regarding issues on prostitution.
- Partake in networks such as SWIPING in order to develop services and share information with other agencies working with women in prostitution. To look at ways to decrease the marginalisation and stigmatising of women working in prostitution
Objectives for Aim 4: To develop an awareness of issues regarding prostitution and keep up-to-date on developments (e.g. legal context, health issues)
- Create/develop national and international links.
- Through the recruitment of a peer worker gain/develop an understanding of the dynamics of prostitution and current issues facing women working in prostitution.
- To identify/attend conferences/seminars and training relevant to the issue of women in prostitution and identify resources on this issue.
Onpoing Process
- Look at what other services are doing and identify gaps
- Ask women what they would like to see.
- Link with Garda/residents in the area to be aware of their concerns/thoughts. Develop a working relationship.
- Maintain working links with other organisations
- Identify/recruit/train a peer worker.
